Our lead content creator, Jaina Patel, has created a tutorial for this month's featured trend. Jaina makes the most beautiful cake cones. They are a mix of color and class! If you make these, be sure to tag us, we can't wait to see!!
These vibrant cake cones are incredibly fun to put together, the perfect addition to any party, and not to mention deliciously decadent. They can be filled with a cake pop style mix, cookie dough, or even cheesecake – but the best part, they are so simple and the Primary Rainbow sprinkles just scream happiness!
Melt the chocolate or candy melts in a bowl in 30 second bursts in the microwave, stirring between each round until smooth. Dip the top of each waffle cone into the bowl, rotating round the cone
Use a paintbrush to brush off the excess chocolate to ensure the cone has an even border
Add your sprinkles to a bowl or plate, and using a spoon sprinkle all over the melted chocolate on the cone
Fill in any gaps in the sprinkle border and individually place the larger ball sprinkles until the chocolate is fully covered
Fill the cones with cake pop mix (cake crumbs mixed with buttercream), or edible cookie dough, and flatten at the top of the cone. Place the cones into the cake cone rack
Split your buttercream into as many bowls as you would like colours, and evenly mix each shade. Add the buttercream into a piping bag fitted with a 2D tip, and then pipe a swirl on top of the cone – I find around 4 swirls makes the perfect look!
Add a cherry on top, and finish with more sprinkles on the buttercream, hand placing the larger ball sprinkles
Repeat with each buttercream colour, and then dig in!
Note: Cake cones are best eaten on the day they are made.
