Bluey Chocolate M&M Cookies

Make the perfect easy cookies for your little one's Bluey themed birthday party with this chocolate cake mix cookie recipe where our "Oh Biscuits" sprinkle mix does all of the heavy lifting for you!

(Yield: 24)

For the Cookies:

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup M&M's (plus a few extra for decoration, if desired)
  • 2 oz package of Sprinkle Pop “Oh Biscuits” sprinkles

For the Fudge Icing:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 2 cups powdered sugar, sifted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

Make the Cookies:

  • Preheat the Oven & Prepare Baking Sheets: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats to prevent sticking.
  • Combine Ingredients: In a large bowl, use a hand mixer or a stand mixer to blend the chocolate cake mix, eggs, and vegetable oil until a thick dough forms.
  • Add M&M's: Gently fold in the cup of M&M's into the dough, being careful not to crush the candies.
  • Form the Cookies: Scoop tablespoon-sized amounts of dough, roll them into balls, and place them on the prepared baking sheets about 2 inches apart, as they will spread a bit during baking.
  • Bake: Place the cookies in the preheated oven and bake for 8-10 minutes, or until they are set but still soft in the center. Remove from the oven, let them cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Make the Fudge Icing:

  • Melt Butter & Combine: In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Stir in the milk and cocoa powder until the mixture is smooth. Remove from heat.
  • Add Powdered Sugar & Vanilla: Gradually stir in the powdered sugar and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth. If the icing is too thick, add a little more milk, a teaspoon at a time, until it reaches a thick but pipeable consistency.
  • Cool Slightly: Allow the fudge icing to cool slightly, so it thickens up but is still soft enough to pipe.
  • Pipe the Icing: Transfer the slightly cooled fudge icing to a piping bag fitted with a small round or star tip. Pipe the icing onto the cooled cookies, creating swirls or designs as desired.
  • Decorate: Use our “Oh Biscuits” sprinkle mix for the perfect touch!
  • Set: Let the icing set for a few minutes before serving, allowing it to firm up a bit.
