Graduation Mini Cake Pans

If you're having trouble deciding what to make for a graduation party, these adorable and easy cake pans are the perfect solution! Use a box cake mix and whip up a super simple vanilla buttercream and it will look like you ordered these treats from the bakery!

Supplies and Ingredients:

  • Set of 12 narrow cake pans
  • Sprinkle Pop graduation sprinkle mix
  • 1 star tipped piping bag
  • Any vanilla cake mix plus ingredients on the box
  • Small bottle of buttermilk
  • 2 sticks unsalted butter at room temperature
  • 4 cups powdered sugar, sifted
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2-4 tablespoons of heavy cream

Instructions:

  • In a large bowl, mix together the ingredients with your cake mix, replacing the water that it calls for with buttermilk.
  • Once your batter is ready, pour evenly into your greased mini cake pans and bake at the temperature and time recommended on the box.
  • Start making your buttercream by beating the softened butter in a standing mixer or with a handheld electric mixer for 3-5 minutes on medium speed.
  • Add your vanilla extract and mix until combined, scraping down the sides of your bowl if necessary.
  • Slowly add the sifted powdered sugar into the bowl about a half a cup at a time until fully combined.
  • If the consistency is too thick, slowly incorporate a small amount of heavy cream to fix the consistency.
  • Once your buttercream is ready, place it into a star tipped piping bag and set aside while your cakes cool off.
  • Once your cakes are ready, pipe them in swirling motions with your buttercream.
  • Lastly, add your Graduation sprinkle mix to the top of each mini cake and you have a beautiful graduation dessert!
