Supplies and Ingredients:
- Set of 12 narrow cake pans
- Sprinkle Pop graduation sprinkle mix
- 1 star tipped piping bag
- Any vanilla cake mix plus ingredients on the box
- Small bottle of buttermilk
- 2 sticks unsalted butter at room temperature
- 4 cups powdered sugar, sifted
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2-4 tablespoons of heavy cream
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, mix together the ingredients with your cake mix, replacing the water that it calls for with buttermilk.
- Once your batter is ready, pour evenly into your greased mini cake pans and bake at the temperature and time recommended on the box.
- Start making your buttercream by beating the softened butter in a standing mixer or with a handheld electric mixer for 3-5 minutes on medium speed.
- Add your vanilla extract and mix until combined, scraping down the sides of your bowl if necessary.
- Slowly add the sifted powdered sugar into the bowl about a half a cup at a time until fully combined.
- If the consistency is too thick, slowly incorporate a small amount of heavy cream to fix the consistency.
- Once your buttercream is ready, place it into a star tipped piping bag and set aside while your cakes cool off.
- Once your cakes are ready, pipe them in swirling motions with your buttercream.
- Lastly, add your Graduation sprinkle mix to the top of each mini cake and you have a beautiful graduation dessert!
