Ingredients:

  • 24 Reese’s cups
  • 24 Ghirardelli squares (or any square shaped chocolate pieces you prefer)
  • 1 bag of red strawberry laces (you can find these on amazon, candy stores, ect)
  • 24 red hots or M&M’s if you want a more chocolatey taste
  • 1 bottle of edible glue
  • 1 box of chocolate cake mix plus the ingredients on the box
  • 1 bottle of buttermilk
  • 16 oz of cream cheese
  • 1 cup of unsalted butter
  • 8 cups of powdered sugar
  • 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
  • 24 cupcake papers of your choice
  • 1 bottle of Sprinkle Pop sporty sprinkles in your school colors!

Instructions:

  • Bake your cupcakes according to the directions on the box, replacing the water with buttermilk.
  • While your cupcakes are in the oven, start on your cream cheese frosting by adding all of your room temperature cream cheese and butter into a mixing bowl, beating it together on medium speed until soft and creamy.
  • Add in your vanilla extract.
  • Slowly add in your powdered sugar, about ½ a cup at a time and scrape the side of your bowl as necessary.
  • Once your cream cheese frosting is ready, add it to a piping bag and when your cupcakes are cool, pipe each of them in circular motions
  • Once your cupcakes are frosted, decorate each of them with your sprinkles!
  • To assemble your chocolate grad caps, place your reese’s on a flat surface with the larger part facing down and add some of your edible glue to the top and stick your square chocolate to the top.
  • Once this step is done, put a small cut piece of your strawberry lace onto the top and hold it in place, adding edible glue and then sticking your red hot or M&M to the top.
  • Hold this in place for a second until it’s dry enough to be on its own and once it’s all assembled, place each grad cap on top of your cupcakes!
  • Enjoy your delicious and festive dessert!
